The Editor's Mug - March/April 2006
Do you see this face?
Do you see how tired and ragged-looking it is? Are there traces of hopelessness and despair?
This is a face looking for relief.
No, I’m not depressed. At least, not in a depressive sort of way. I would describe it as the look of one who continues to look to the horizon for that which he cannot see. Call it the beach (literally), call it a general feeling of not being where I want to be, or even call it a case of “the grass is always greener”-itis.
My symptoms? Deep sighing; long daydreaming looks to the west; less work getting done; mood swings; constant talking about going “somewhere” and doing “something”.
Oh, you think it’s a case of Spring Fever? Hmmm...well, if I didn’t feel like I feel this way year around, I’d jump to agree with you.
Am I upset? No, not in “upset” terms. That is, I’m not upset that I feel this way. I supposed I sort of like it, to some extent. Once I can pull myself away from the daydreaming, it drives me to get more done so when the time comes to go do that “something”, there is greater relief of those “symptoms”.
You know, I think it’s good that I feel this way, and I think it would be good if you did, too. Great things are ahead for you and me. How do I know? Well...look west with me a dream.
WHAT DO YOU THINK?
The response to our new look and print/download version has been overwhelming! Thank you to those who’ve responded. We still want to hear from you! Please let us know what you think.
Cheers!
